Best Soup Maker UK Reviews

Make fresh home made soup at home with a top rated electric soup maker, health and goodness for all the family..

Who doesn't like the taste of fresh home made soup? If you own your own soup maker, then you can. There is simply nothing like it, especially on a cold winter's day in the UK. It tastes great, is highly nourishing and packed full of vitamins. The one thing that most people hate though is making it. That is why many people turn to packets of soup, tubs of soup and tins of soup. Those are for sure convenient ways of making soup at home.

The drawback of those is that they are never fresh, and are not made from fresh ingredients. They are also packed full of ingredients designed to make food last longer, and those are certainly not natural. It is always better, whenever possible, to make your own food at home and freeze it if necessary. Then it can be ready to use as and when you need it.

Below we have reviewed the top 20 soup makers currently available on the UK market. These reviews are listed in order of actual buyer rating. When a product is purchased, some buyers take the time to leave a review. We have read and summarised all of these reviews, and then put these in order by the highest rating first. That should allow you to make an easier selection.

On average soup makers in the UK cost between £40-90 on average depending on what features you want to have. (Please note all ratings are rated from 100% and taken from any available online reviews from various online websites that sell this type of soup maker.

Guide to Buying a Soup Maker

The above list identifies the top 10 soup makers that we know are available in the UK. We will continue below. However at this point it is worth pointing out what I think are the key features to look out for are.  As you can see there are a lot of choices, and that can often be more confusing than helpful.

Soup Maker Capacity

These come in different sizes with the most common size being 1.6 litres. A soup maker of this size will make enough soup for about 4 people. For most homes that is enough for a single sitting. It is also a good size if you live alone and want to make enough for a week. You can of course make fresh soup and then freeze what you don't eat.

Heating Speed

These types of soup maker are all plugged into an electrical socket. The heater is controlled by a thermostat. The amount of time it takes the soup maker to heat up, will be determined by the wattage of the appliance. The bigger this is the quicker it will heat up. It also makes the soup maker much more efficient.

The Saute Feature

Some of these makers have a saute feature. That allows you to add certain vegetables such as onions to the soup maker. You can then soften those in the base of the maker, before adding the rest of the ingredients. By doing that, the flavour added is greatly improved.

Timing and Programs

The more expensive soup makers will have timers, countdown timers and also have programs. By setting those up, you can get on and do other things, and let the soup be ready when you want it to be.

Blenders and Crushers

Many of these soup makers are just what they state, and that is a simple soup maker. Some can also be used for blenders and for making things like "smoothies." Many of them also have the capability to crush ice and make things like ice cream. These are more like multi-purpose blenders.

Soup Maker Frequently Asked Questions

There are a number of commonly asked questions so we have provided the answers to those just below.

Question - What Does a Soup Maker Actually Do?

Answer - A soup maker is designed to be a fast and efficient way of making soup. In essence you chop up your vegetables and drop them into the soup maker with some water. You then set a timer and let the soup maker do its work. You can also pick the type of soup that you want such as chunky or smooth.

Question - Do you have to cook veg before putting in a soup maker?

Answer - It depends on the type of soup maker that you buy. If it has a saute function then there is no need to cook the vegetables first. You simply pop them in and the soup maker will do the rest. Soup makers without the saute function then you will need to fry off vegetables like onion or garlic first

Question - Do you put hot or cold water in a soup maker?

Answer -  You can use either but it is simply more efficient to use hot water as it will speed the process up. Hot water also helps soften the vegetables quicker and avoids any hard vegetables when the cooking has been completed.

Question - Can you make porridge in a soup maker?

Answer - Yes you can use your soup maker to make many foods and porridge is one of those. Most people use their soup maker to make large batches of porridge which they can then freeze and use as and when required.

Question - Can you put raw meat in a soup maker?

Answer - No, all meat should be cooked first for health and safety reasons. Some soup makers have a saute function and this can be used for meats such as bacon. It is worth bearing in mind that soup makers gently heat soups rather than go through a full cooking process.

Question - Why does my soup maker burn on the bottom?

Answer - The answer is sugar content from the ingredients. The best way to avoid this is to put the water or stock in first before adding any ingredients.
