Morphy Richards 501014 Saute and Soup Maker Review

Have Morphy Richards created the ultimate soup maker with their 501014 Sauté and Soup Maker? Little wonder it is Amazon’s number 1 best seller, and will likely remain so for quite a time to come.

And now for around £50 the 501014 soup maker is offering a saving of over 30% on the list price. This is truly amazing considering the added features of this model. The extra sauté feature makes it easier to prepare everything in the soup maker.

Just add onions, garlic and your chosen spices to prepare without the need for additional pans getting dirty. The flavours of your soup get a boost and a more blended texture results so you win all round.

A new ‘pause’ function means you can interrupt the cooking process to add other ingredients and the cooking cycle will restart where it left off. So useful too should you forget some ingredients. This feature is really very useful and is missing on many other models. I have lost count of the number of times I have made use of this, as I can be a tad forgetful

The 501014 sells amazingly well, has the stylish Morphy Richards look about it and really delivers the goods. It already has well over 800 buyer reviews over at Amazon and has achieved and tremendous rating of 4.7 out of 5 stars from actual buyers.

Main Review

The 4.7 rating is a very high rating reached over a fairly brief time since introduction in May 2015, but the sheer number of reviews speak volumes for this models’ popularity. At Amazon 95 % of buyers gave the model a 4 star rating or higher with 84% going for the full 5 stars.

For this Morphy Richards model about 2% of buyers were disappointed and left a 1 star rating. Their reviews seem to point to some sort of electrical problem and most simply returned their purchase for refund.

This soup maker, like most Morphy Richards models, has room to make up to 1.6 litre capacity of soup, juice or smoothie. A really healthy four, good sized, servings.

What buyers liked about the Morphy Richards 501014

Below I have summarised what the majority of buyers liked about this model

  • Simple and extremely easy to use with clear instructions
  • Takes the hassle out of blending soups manually
  • Saute option works really well and gets to temperature very quickly
  • Being able to pause the program means cream, cress etc can be added when the soup’s almost ready rather than cooked through
  • Brilliant for smoothies or milkshakes
  • Countdown timer allows for easy preparation

One buyer reviewer Lisa said this:

Wish I'd bought one of these months ago! Best kitchen gadget ever, so simple to use. I've made 5 different soups in a week, all have been delicious, healthy and low in calories. I would recommend it to everyone.

What buyers did not like about the 501014

  • There were several issues with the model causing electrical trips to fail
  • Some buyers remarked on the loudness of the soup maker during cooking and the continuous loud beeps at the end of the cycle.

Summary & Conclusion

Morphy Richards are one of the leading soup maker manufacturers and have really come up with a winner here.

2 year warranty

Average Price - £50

Summary

The overall rating of 4.7 is a resounding endorsement from a lot of buyers for the 501014 Sauté and Soup Maker. Buyers loved the extra features of this model. They loved being able to sauté vegetables and spices in preparation for the soup making process. The pause function is something many customers had desired on earlier models.

It’s really good to know that manufacturers like Morphy Richards actually listen to their customers and try to give them what they want.

It’s great to see such a small percentage of poor reviews (2%) even though those particular buyers have been disappointed. Buyers who gave these lower ratings had mostly suffered what seems to be a small but common electrical fault.

Other than that there were no major complaints. This is a good quality product with top of the range functions, making it very desirable.

I personally would pay a much higher price for the extras this model displays. At £50 the 501014 really does match the best soup makers available in the UK.
